When you think of powerful, stylish and affordable notebook computers there are a few names that immediately pop into the typical uberGeek mind.... and Gateway probably isn't one of them. --- Though us older uberGeeks will remember when it was nothing but a good thing to have cow spots on the side
of your computer, younger geeks don't have nearly as many good memories about this venerable company.
I have many Gateway boxes come through my labs over the years and I have always been a fan of their simple and yet powerful design, but the brutal truth is that the last decade has seen Gateway des
cend into mediocrity, poor service and lackluster products....
That was then.... this is NOW.....
With Gateway's acquisition by Acer, the company has completely revamped its desktop lineup, added killer products like the XHD3000 Multimedia Monitor, and given its notebooks attitude, style and the p
ower to back it up.
On this episode, we take a look at the Gateway M-151X: A midrange notebook which proves that affordable notebooks don't have to be slow, boring or stripped-down. We run this beautiful box through its paces to see if Gateway's new direction leads through our uberGeek backyard.

Please believe me when I say that I really do understand where you are coming from... and perhaps my responses have been a bit harsh, sorry about that... I'm getting cranky in my old age. If you really want to chat about this, take it to email or contact me though TheTechStop -- it's much more pr
oductive than YT commenting. Peace, Fr. Robert
THAT is the Jesuit legacy.
You don't like the Jesuits, that much is clear, but please don't confuse your own personal grudge against the Society of Jesus with the truth of who we are.
In short, stop being a douche.
I don't believe that you have any ill will, but please understand that I hear these kinds of comments every day... many times from my own brother Jesuits. --- There is a misconception that because a priest is educated or interested in a field OTHER than Theology or piety, that they have somehow di
minished their apostolic calling or their priestly effectiveness. I very much care to disagree. -- Continued --
I have had more great spiritual conversations started by chats about technology than many priests have had through piety and holiness alone. I'm not discounting that type of priesthood, but I am saying that it is NOT the priesthood and ministry that I am called to.
I am irreverant. I swear. I poke and prod at authority and I have no problem questioning my own faith and place in life --- but that is one of the wonderful things about the Jesuits, we find God in ALL things.
I really do appreciate that you have always come to by defense, especially since you are a self-avowed atheist, and I enjoy all the letters of support that you have sent over the past few months... but PLEASE don't turn the comments into a flame war. Let people write what they want and I'll resp
ond when I can. Don't get worked up over it and just be the cool person that I know you to be. Peace, Fr. Robert
I haven't hear from you in a while. Where did you run off to? In any case, I don't think that Don was hating. He obviously has some strong feelings about the Jesuits... that's cool... he's free to write about them. Good to hear from you and I hope you've enjoyed the changes in the show. Peac
e, Fr. Robert
