1776 is a Broadway musical with a book by Peter Stone and music and lyrics by Sherman Edwards. It was produced on the Broadway stage in 1969 and made into a film in 1972. The show was nominated for five Tony Awards and won three, including the Tony Award for Best Musical.
1776 was produced by Stuart Ostrow and directed by Peter H. Hunt. The production featured William Daniels as John Adams, Ken Howard as Thomas Jefferson, Howard Da Silva as Benjamin Franklin, Ron Holgate as Richard Henry Lee, and Virginia Vestoff as Abigail Adams. You can visit the official 1776

William Daniels should see this one! He wouldbe so proud to know that you think so much of his work from 1972! I saw the premiere in NYC, and have followed him in every little TV role until now. No one does attitude like him! Thanks for noticing. Maybe he will live on as John the agitator more than Mr. Feeney or Kit the car!

I love it! The actor who played Adams in that did such a good job. I love 1776! I was just waiting for that scene when Adams goes after Dickinson with his cane. Beautifully made!
