As a musician/lawyer/professor who teaches Copyright law, I know that you can't copyright such a simple chord progression.
You can have lots of fun with rock tunes that use the same chord progressions at similar tempos -- you can literally "remix" them into a new hybrid song like Kid Rock does with "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Werewolves of London."
