Itzhak Perlman and Pinchas Zukerman in their youth, playing Handel's Passacaglia, arranged for violin and viola by Halvorsen. Amongst my favouite duets. Although significantly blander than Heifetz's and Primrose's, this performance still remains a classic.

i have never said that perlman is stupid. Open your eyes and read the text. Everyone can see that perlman is smart, but i defenately think zukerman looks smarter than perlman in this beautiful music-performance. :) cheers.

I can't stop either, it's just...amazing. I actually like this performance better than Heifetz and Pimrose's . I really can't explain, maybe the richer tone, maybe Zukerman's style. I guess it's a matter of preference since cgzH compares the two versions in terms like "significantly blander"

I guess I wasn't very specific. I can play hora staccato at Heifetz's speed, yes both upbow and down, but I failed to play as natually as Perlman did in the video, and that's what I meant by almost impossible, and it seemed to me it was a spur of moment.

I don't think Heifetz and Primrose's recording is available on Youtube. Would anyone be willing to upload it, even if it's just audio? I'd love to hear it, and I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one.

I'm the one that uploaded it...and I must say, I prefer Heifetz and Primrose's treatment. They're aggressive but reverent to the music..with Perlman and Zukerman, I don't feel that reverence.

Whoops...weird reply posting...I meant that I was the one who uploaded the Heifetz - Primrose video. Also...even though I prefer that to this performance, I think Perlman and Zukermans later collaboration is inferior to this. Their main problem is that their sound simply doesn't gel together...it doesn't sound like a 'duo'.

It sounds great, very baroque-like. The two instruments are combined into one voice... fantastic! But in piano it also sounds special don't you think? arr I just love this piece!
