Derren has probably done hundreds (thousands?) of inductions and has a lot of experience with them. He knows how to get someone to fall and knows when they will fall. It's possible there is a reflective window or something there off camera so the guy can actually see Derren but I don't think it's needed. The guys is going to fall it's just a matter of timing the when. Derren is watching the guy and has experience to time it so it looks supernatural, but it's just experience with inductions.

A lot of magicians are in the same position but most don't do that sort of thing. It's like with any crime or immorality... most people aren't lying scumbags who will trade their honor to take advantage of people for a few bucks.

i can ATTEMPT to tell you
if you check out derren browns other videos you will see one where he gets you to stand up and he tells you that there is a force pushing on you and makes you sit down. the man before this was sitting down for a while and we can assume he is confortable right? so when he brings him up quickly and
makes him off balance and allready tells him what he is going to do (secretly) the thing is he comfortable sitting down so when he stands he falls down

LOL This is! a stage hypnotism, because Derren Brown is a hypnotist, illusionist, & wordsmith, if you watch his shows or read his books you would know this ie: he tells people this. I never claim he doesn't say these things. The video points out these things as they happen, which if you read the comments many people find useful. If you don't, avoid my videos. I'm really not sure what your point is and I first assumed you were just making pointless comments without even having watched the video (which is why I made fun of you).

The only thing you seem to "know" is that there is a "thing" called "fallback induction". Of course this is classic stage hypnotism, what else could it be? The point he is making is that evangelicals, like the snake oil salesman in the original vid, use these techniques. You seem to be exposing something that was never intended to be hidden.

It's because in America, hence Derren Brown haven chosen the country in the first place, there are more people who are readily willing to believe that instant conversions, mediums, psychics etc exist and have actual and physical powers. All those people turned up because while they claim atheism they are also open minded enough to the possibility of there being a god, they just either a) don't know it yet or b) haven't accepted it. Not saying there is or isn't a god, just their perceptions.

Interesting how when watching the two video's previous to listening to your explaination, I missed the suggestions he was giving. And as you talked through the video with explaination, the suggestions became apparent. Thanks. Makes me want to pay better attention to every word people say as they speak.

What's "implicit" for one person isn't the same as what's "implicit" for others.
Your commentary does explicate some very good, subtle details that an observant person can easily miss, who isn't familiar with hypnotic techniques.

Derren Brown using the cultural material his audience has all been steeped in from years of school, TV and probably childhood religious instruction - Christianity - for the very good reason that he can use implicit knowledge. He doesn't HAVE to explain anything for them to know what's expected.
Face it: those evangelist preachers use standard stage-hypnotist techniques. Watch the Marjoe Gortner documentary.
