Here's a video about an instrument I made using 4 bass strings, a stainless steel mixing bowl, a 1/2 inch threaded steel rod, 1/2 inch nuts and washers, and numerous broken drill bits. It's pretty tough to play (without practice), but the sound it makes is really awesome, and pretty unique.

This is pretty cool Bro. I made a washtub bass out of (obviously) a washtub, a broom handle, and weedwacker line. The tone is pretty cool. I usually hit the string with a drumstick. If you want to make another thing like this you should try plastic with weedwacker line, (easier on the fingers) deep strings always zone me out, haha.

This is really cool. It's a neat idea and honestly, I'm a little surprised it works as well as it does. High Five! I've got some ideas about the guitar end. I think I might try to build one this weekend. I'll share if I'm onto something.
