I didn't know about these clips... Cathy Rigby looked elegant and graceful here. I do understand the technical advancements may score her low today but for her day (especially being first successful American gymnast) she was wonderful and we must remember, actual coherence in movements and dance really counted back then.

This was truly a historic moment for U.S. gymnastics...she was the first U.S. female medalist to make an event final at Worlds, and the first to medal in a Worlds event final. Truly a pioneer and a legend.

I'm not sure the gymnast of today could do that routine without a bobble. The artistry of the sport has been completely lost...much like figure skating.
