I love Butterfield's playing his singing not so much. He works hard at it and the phrasing etc. is always good. He just wasn't blessed with a great sounding voice.

No, the bass player is Rod Hicks. We met him 9/07 in Clarksdale, MS at the Paul Butterfield Fund and Society Gathering at Hopson Plantation. He is still a great bass player and a great guy!

I don't think that's a fair judgement. Comparing Canned Heat and Butterfield would not result in everything really, there are many differences. They both play the blues, and the play it oh so well. And yes, the horn section, glorious!
