will be way harder to 'catch' the knife when he's swinging or thrusting fast. also.. i dont think he will be exactly still for you while you attack him back most likely trashing to get away or still trying to get you with the knife.

this guy is nuts. if you have time to grab a pen and prepare to puncture, you have time to run away
Guys, this isn't ...( 5 months ago by MikeUntstinks)
Guys, this isn't about pen vs. knife and coming out on top. The whole point here is that in a life or death situation, if you absolutely CAN'T GET AWAY and have to fight, you can try to increase your odds by grabbing an equalizer - something like a pen which you can use for stabbing. It isn't by any means advocating you should do this against a knife. But again, in a life or death situation where you can have limited options, something like a pen can increase the odds in your favor.
techniques where ...( 5 months ago by FrameFitz)
techniques where you have to catch the arm are impractical. And also, I don't think this guy understands that the pen isn't mightier than the sword. It would be so much better to use a disarming technique besides this one...
Hey Might,

Hey Might,
I concur, it's about flow in and out to your target. A puncture is a puncture and one to the carotid is just as bad as a live blade. You could also drag the pen on a rough surface prior to using it to puncture, basically your creating a shank. People should not assume, I'm more afraid of the practitioners skills.
Precisely. ...( 4 months ago by MikeUntstinks)
Precisely. Improvised weapons imho, can be far more dangerous because they are everyday objects found around you. If you really use creativity you are almost sure to find a weapon anywhere, anytime, any place. Essentially speaking, you are constantly armed. Bottom line is, once an object punctures an eyeball, the body cares not whether its a knife, a pen, a twig, a finger, a soda can or a rolled up stiletto point dollar bill. The results are the same.
