Best way to display thunder eggs (geodes) is by drilling 6mm hole and inserting a camera.
Depending on what is inside, then saw off 1/3 and place a white LED. It just highlight the beauty of the egg.
I rally like the cracking jig this guy used to crack the lady's egg!

It's plumber's tool used to cut cast iron pipe. The chain has little cutting wheels that distribute the cutting pressure evenly from the lever. They make great geode cracking instruments.
