Always loved this song. Man, you gotta have breath control to sing it! But hey, this is NOT the same mix as the 45 (which I have). The voices and production are clearer here. Tempo a little slower too, like the album version instead of the AM radio version. Good find, thanks for presenting it.

Thanks, Hank. Of coors, my memory of what it sounded like on the radio is not infollicle, but the 45 sounds like the memory and this track is much cleaner. Was the source a 45 or a 33? Mastering does introduce artifacts, and there are 'radio releases' of the same studio work that sound quite different from the album version.

Same session, different mastering (where they transfer the tape to a lacquer master in prep for pressing). Mastering engineers can change the equalization and compression, I think that's the difference I'm hearing.

I knew Rusty working in N.O. He was truly a gentleman after all those crazy years of touring, partying, etc. If you ever get a copy of Rusty Kershaw "Now And Then" it will set your heart on relaxe. Neil Young, and the Subdudes are all over this one. Seriously a treasure to have while driving around that area.

WBOtis--please tell your dad how much this new jersey yankee loved his music-- I first saw him and first heard this music when your dad appeared on the Johnny Cash show about 1970. He blew me away and I had the great pleasure of seeing your dad at Madison Square Gardens Felt Forum about 1975-- Lynn Anderson was also on the bill-- God bless all of you
