We spent an evening with him, Lou Donaldson, and a bunch of other musicians recently in NYC. Doc kept everyone entertained and laughing all evening. As we boarded the huge elevator backstage at Carnegie Hall (with about 20 other people, Doc looked at me and my sisters, rubbed his eyes (pretendin g to cry), and said in a loud voice "MY FAMILY'S LEAVIN'." Everybody in the elevator cracked up.
He's a marvelous man, whom I admire greatly!

peters playing and composition has had a very personal influence on me. Not only my own playing, but my appreciation of all art forms and life. HIs music has been as important to me great literature and film. We must keep this music alive and enrich the world with valuable culture.

I like that Miles Davis quote with a twist, that the guitar player did at about 1:04-1:10. I am pretty sure those are the first few notes on mile's solo on "So What" from the Kind Of Blue album.
