The best bowie ever seen, this was his 'white line', living from only cocaine and milk, feeling men behind him and flies in his milk... I love him ever and ever and ever want to be the flie.

That Stacey Heydon is a deal. A worthy successor to Ronson and Fripp.
Sorry to disagree ... ( 1 year ago by revttcoco)
Sorry to disagree this is pathetic. This song is about desperation, smooth jazz shit.Give me the Celibate Rifles serious junky version,Pink Fairies at the Roundhouse, this is really dire Disco crap.
Being a junky is not disco.Bury it under 2,000 tons of concrete.
Cheers Rev TT & COCO

thank you, i heard dave do this over the radio when i was teaching school in melbourne in early 80, but it was band with ronson, God i loved it, and have been looking for it ever since, the opiate anthem of the universe SOLI DEO GLORIA

who else was in that band?
"Sorry to disagree ... ( 1 year ago by Droyd21)
"Sorry to disagree this is pathetic." Yeah, there is some irony going on doing this song as a disco version, but it feels right nonetheless to me. The way Bowies voice sounded at the time and the repetitive guitar riff seem quite appropriate. There is a resemblance between that riff and the way the piano is played at Lou Reeds version at Bataclan 1972. On top of that, Bowie still looks pretty crapped out here (but still cool) because of the cocaine use.

I caught some of these shows on tour. please note this isn't a "disco" version. Its characteristic of the emerging funk sound after the early 70s motown era. lots of you are wayy to young to understand this (and you'll get mad at me for point this out) but these shows were great despite his coke use.
I agree totally. ... ( 11 months ago by jeannec1)
I agree totally. I'm only nineteen, but even I think that people use the word disco way too broadly. I also heard that people think his performances in this coke-use era were his best shows, I don't know, but I definitely won't give his addiction any credit. He's lucky it didn't destroy him.
This was his last ... ( 10 months ago by JasonBNYC)
This was his last tour BEFORE I first saw him (Stage-1978 was my first time). But I WISH I had because this was DEFINITELY his high point - best tour!! And no, this is definitely not disco (if you want disco, check out his 1975 John I'm Only Dancing). BTW, this version may not quite be the VU, but it's pretty good and WAY better than Lou Reed's solo performances of it and possibly better even than Cale's. But nothing comes close to his 1976 rehearsal Sister Midnight! Awesome.

No doubt, although I try to pay close attention to how music has changed over time I am too young to understand, so I surely don't mind you pointing that out. As far as I can tell, I don't think his cokeabuse had a negative impact on his shows either, but it did gave his performances a certain feel.

Lou would still dig this, I think. He'd be flattered. I don't think though this is better than Lou's solo performances. Vocally yes
