In her 72nd. year.Many singers worldwide came to the aid of the Barcelona Liceu following the disastrous fire, by attending this Benefit Concert. This is the second piece Victoria sings, which is later in the concert. Venue is the Palau Sant Jordi very close to the Barcelona Olympic Stadium in Montjuic, Barcelona. Capacity audience of approximately 20,0000!

LATER IN THE EVENING---- Victoria de los ANGELES,Jose CARRERAS,Placido DOMINGO,Alfredo KRAUS,Eva MARTON, and CABALLE,among others,sang pieces.THESE SIX SINGERS ARE PERFORMING ON MY SITE IN THIS BENEFIT CONCERT. Just type lochness11 liceu into YouTube search,and they should appear!

From 1949 onwards this Lady brightened the gloom and austerity of the post Second World War with her voice, beauty, modesty, shyness,and genuine love of her audience. At a time when there was a lot of internatioal suspicion between nations, including Spain.The musical world began to love her, and I believe that love showed everyone, worldwide, that Spain had a big heart and a big smile.

You are very welcome.Victoria really was a very special singer,and person.She recalls in a radio interview I have,how much she enjoyed the singing lessons she gave in Santander at that time---1993. Alicia de Larrocha! WOW!
