The same hadith is also quoted by Ibn Kathir in his Koranic commentary (Tafsir) of Surah Al-Rahman (55), verse 72: "The Prophet Muhammad was heard saying: 'The smallest reward for the people of paradise is an abode where there are 80,000 servants and 72 wives, over which stands a dome decorated with pearls, aquamarine, and ruby, as wide as the distance from Al-Jabiyyah [a Damascus suburb] to Sana'a [Yemen]'." I guess you are now well-educated!

I have seen this subject before. The quran does not mention a number for the Hur. Also, according to yusuf Estes, the #72 is an old Arab saying that represents many; not actually 72. However, if a Muslim is not versed in the ahadith/arabic, I see how they could become misguided.

Dear hadid1ahke, in Quran the number of huris not mentioned, but it is mentioned in hadith as I commented above. Yusuf Estes is using Biblical issues (he was Christian preacher) for explaining Islamic issues. Numbers in the Bible are like symbols that have meaning. So this convert preserved some of Christian ideas for contributing to Islam so that it looks more interesting.

:) Salamu alaikum. You should understand that Islam is a continuation of Judaism and Christianity the two religions that came before. So if Shaikh Yusuf Estes does use the Bible or anything that he has learned while being a Christian it's still quite valid.
