Yes that is Elaine. This song is actual the prologue to the show. She is playing Grizabella before she left the tribe. Ken Page also plays a young Old D. in this number aswell. He is all the way at the top on the tire.

Only a (according to me) rather vague one. This is the very first song, where the Jellicles are first introduced.

Cats takes place during the annual Jellicle Ball where one cat is sent up to the Heavyside Layer (rebirth into annother Jellicle life) and during the musical different cats are beeing presented (such as The Rum Tum Tugger, the curious cat, the Magical Mr. Mistofelees, and Gus, the Theatre Cat).
