I understand your point :) But not all Hip-Hop is sampling. These days they make own beats, but most of that is crap. ( I sample + Make my own beats too ;) )

To the people who discredit producers for sampling, you don't know much about music. Like other musical gifts, sampling is an art.
Bad sampling is like putting pepper on a TV dinner and calling it your own. If done right, sampling's like taking different ingredients and creating an original recipe.
People think producers are the only ones that sample. John Mayer bites off Eric Clapton like crazy . . . I'm still a big fan though.

Btw, everything is inspired by something . . . nothing, and I mean NOTHING, is born in a vacuum. Creativity is the art of fusing different inspirational elements into an original and beautiful work of art.
Back in the late 1800's, classical composers from Europe would often travel from Europe to learn from the new genre of jazz in America (Maurice Ravel, George Gershwin, Igor Stravinsky, I could continue). Elvis Presley bit the hell out of black blues musicians.

As for the "championing of morally bankrupt ideas," you're not listening to true hip hop . . . I call it hip-pop. Anything that can be exploited for material gains WILL be exploited. Cecil Rhodes exploited Africa, Wall Street exploits Mainstreet, Martha Stewart . . ., Ted Stevenson . . ., etc.
True hip-hop inspires, educates, and progresses (i.e. Outkast - Liberation, Common - I Used to Lover Her, Lupe Fiasco - Coulda Been/ American Terrorist, Gang Starr - Mass Appeal, again I could go on).

soundtrack of the same name was written and produced by curtis mayfield, the movie stars bill cosby and sidney poitier -- the notorious b.i.g. stole his handle "biggie smalls" from one of the movie's villains.
