Contemporary pop/R &B singer Karyn White was born in Los Angeles, where her father played trumpet and her mother was a church choir director. White gained experience singing in choir and also in local talent shows and beauty pageants. She sang with local band Legacy and then toured with R&B vocalist O'Bryan in 1984. A lead vocal on instrumentalist Jeff Lorber's "Facts of Life" led to Warner Bros. signing her.

So do I! I saw the vid on 'Night Tracks' the night before then it came on Soul Train that next morning. What the the 2nd cut he did on Soul Train that day? It was a slow cut with Karyn and some other guy in the band.

At least Karyn White was legal......thats nuthin' compared to the rumors I heard about Con Funk Shun's Michael Cooper and fyne ass singer, Pebbles (mind you that at the time, Pebbles was 17 or 18 and Micahel Cooper has to be at least 10 years older than her)!

Name of song is 'Facts of Love' and it's on Jeff Lorber's Private Passions album. The review had misstated the name of the song as 'Facts of Life'. There's no logical reason for the negative rating.

This "production" is far better than the annoyance of house and new jack swing...far far better, and more eclectic. Urban music HAD to diversify and I'm wishing like crazy it returned to this great synth-period, which is why I don't bother listening to radio anymore.

dude, you have just brought such a great point. They synthesized period was so magical. The first time I heard this song, I order the whole "Private Passion" CD. Even though this song is in the New Jack category cause of the heavy drums and combination of sounds, It had a mor Pop feeling to it. Nevertheless, I also have the 12' LP with two remixed versions of this song and they are so tight!!. Jeff Lorber's elite work!!.
