In 1979, I married an absolutely wonderful gal who would later be diagnosed as bi-polar. About 3 years ago, 4 months short of our 25th anniversary, she chose to end her life. I was still deeply in love with her.
This song goes straight to my heart. Especially the first verse. I'll never forget when I was told of her death. Two of the most intense feelings I've ever experienced flooded my heart. The 1st was a profound sense of loss. The 2nd was joy in knowing she would never feel pain again.

Vince wrote this song when he lost his brother. I lost my brother only a few days ago so this song really hits home for me like it does for so many others. That first line "I know your life on earth was troubled and only you can know the pain". That was Mark. He battled alcohol and depression for many years. I talked to him about his salvation many times. I know he wanted it but not sure he understood it. I pray that he is resting high on that mountain. I miss you bro. See ya on the other side.

Thank You Vince Gill for writing such a beautiful song. Like the others said before me: I played this at my brothers funeral. He was taken by a massive heart attack at the young age of 37. He was Great Man and miss him very much.
