how can you say neil is a lot better than Lynyrd Skynyrd ??? they are both so great and so different you cannot compare them man. Skynyrd are a great rock group and young is a great songwriter and guitarist.

I just think it's dumb that Skynard says "Southern Man don't need him around anyhow". Young was critcizing the Southern redneck anti-black mentality which Skynard obviously agrees with.

surely they are allowed their views on certain things though. even if it was wrong they are allowed an opinion on the matter. neil dissed the south in a song so they dissed neil a song, i'm sure he doesn't give a fuck to be honest. ROCK ON.

At last someone who talks sense. I said the same thing six months ago Jaqmart (page back the thread) and I got totally slated for it! Maybe you have to be British to know what Mark Kamode's really about and maybe the comments came at me from American guys, I dunno? What I do know is that yes, he's pompous, he's also state-apparatus which is why he keeps his job and also perhaps why he took so long to realise that Young was a genius. P.S I still say American movies and TV are 99% insideous crap!

Nonsense. Musicians like everyone else are capable of understanding the world they live in and expressing it through song. How "democratic" is it to think that only those who've gone to elite colleges been members of elite clubs and live funded by corporations and religious extremists to be allowed to express publicly political opinions? If it were so then the average person would also be denied the vote, by virtue of being 'unqualified' to have an opinion.

You are correct to say they understand the world they live in. It's a different world than the one you and I live in. And that my friend is why they're geo-political understanding is severely flawed. It's other worldly. We are fortunate they only control their concerts.
