Excerpts from a powerful documentary produced by WCOT in Tallahassee, FL detailing the dangers of drinking and driving. The program follows the story of Eric Smallridge, a young Tallahassee man who is currently serving a 22-year sentence for the death of two young women in a car accident when he was driving under the influence. The piece looks at the story from all angles, talking to Eric, his parents and the families of the victims showing how many lives were shattered in an instant, with the decision to drink and drive.

I just want to say that I think this is a great video and that those ywho said that he shoumld not have gotten 22 years and that they forgive him .. must not have lost a loved one to a drunk driver.. well I think that is not even enough..The driver that killed my brother got 4 years..Our family as well as Meagans and everyone else that has lost a loved one recieved a "Life sentence"

I think that this man should spend his life in jail. He made a stupid dumbass decision and that's what he deserves. I don't have any mercy for this man b/c he was stupid. I pray for the victims family and pray that they come out on top and become stronger

the girls mother spoke at our school and she forgave eric. they were supposed to let him out of prsion to speak bt he couldnt get out for the day and speak though

I am the "sister-in-law" that had to tell this mother about her daughter. Although my pain measures nowhere near hers on the same spectrum, I can't bear to relive that day. Renee and Eric have a powerful message for those of you who will listen. Please try everything in your power to convince your friends not to drive if they've been drinking ANYTHING AT ALL. And isn't it even better to figure out a way to have fun where you'll wake up the next morning with no regrets?

her mom just came to my school today. and these girls went to my high school. and their cousin goes there now. such a tragic story. the message of this is to NOT DRINK AND DRIVE. no matter what! eric is forgiven but its still hard.

My son was recently hit by a drunk driver...my son was a pedestrian, he survived...I am very thankful that he is alive and he is healing. I am so sorry for the loss of these 2 girls lives...the laws in Kansas are very lax...they say here that an intoxicated driver doesn't know right from wrong...all he is going to get it a dui....I think it is horrendous what happens when people drink and drive...Thank you for sharing this....I will post it on my channel as well.
