You talk about the capacity to be "proud of being british". To be proud of something is to be happy and at comfort with your ability to do something. You being british is nothing but a probability. A chance. It's mere luck that you were born where you were. Therefore by process of logic, you cannot be "proud" to be British. You can however be "glad" to live in a well off country in which you have many, many luxuries (unlike the people the British Empire destroyed it for).

Moral obligation? Basic human decency and an acknowlegement that even the poorest people in Britain are far better off than a huge percentage of the world's population? You can bitch all you like about immigration but Britain is still one of the most prosperous places to live in the world. As for "helping", yeah we've done a brilliant job of that in Iraq and Afghanistan.

People like me? HOSTILEUK you know nothing about me. I'm working class, my dad died when I was young and my mum worked damn hard to raise me and my brother. You admitted yourself that you only read up on the party a couple of days ago. (White) Brits aren't second class citizens - they still hold the vast majority of well paid jobs in the UK, and immigration numbers are actually down this year.
