I agree with you. I have a black friend whose dad plays bass as a studio musician, and he's every bit as funky as Marcus Miller. Can't read music, though. That's his only foible. I have noticed that there are getting to be more and more white and asian people that can get pretty damn funky, too.

People like les Claypool and Flea can't really be compared to guys like Wooten and Miller. Both Flea and Claypool took what everyone else was doing and added their own thing onto it to produce styles that suit their own music. All of these bassists are original and produce quality music, that's all that really counts.
