'02 was our best showing in the World Cup since 1930. Every time the World Cup has been outside of Europe, including the year we hosted the tournament in 1994, we have at the least made it into the knockout stage. Can't wait for 2010.

Actually the 1950 World Cup was in Brazil, and the US failed to reach the next round. That World Cup was still considered a moderate success because the US pulled off the greatest upset in World Cup history, beating the invincible England team 1-0. this was our year....we shoulda gone to the semi finals that year but we got screwed in the end. germany played well and are a tough team to beat, BUT, they cheated on the quarter final game with the hand ball that the ref "didnt see" turns out, i read this somewhere, that he did see it and just hates the united states so he didnt call it. SCREWED UP!!!! but oh well maybe next time
