Thanks for the memories! I climbed up the Fujinomiya trail in late July 2006 under the same cloud/fog conditions but didn't bother stopping for the night (11 hours, 5pm to 4am). Same sunrise and ocean of clouds below and I also passed the Japanese military going up while on my way down.
