Ahhh...the classics! Here is another entry from my old film collection. This version of Hamlet begins after an earlier version I filmed in 1963 (see elsewhere in my list). This one stars my high school buddies Alan, George, my uncle Mike as well as myself. The story picks up where Hamlet is still searching for Claudius and a pie-fight duel is arranged by Laertes. The pies are poisoned by Anius & the free-for-all begins.
Comedian Soupy Sales was at his peak at the time and there's a heavy influence of his throughout this film. Also, several of the actors listed were not available for the final shoot, so we came up with split-screen filming in several scenes to get everyone together. So, despite the limitations we had, I was pleased with the results. It was shot with a Yashica 8mm camera in Poughkeepsie, NY at the College Hill Park over a weekend.
Filmed: October 18, 1964
