E2 E4 was way ahead of its days in the early 80s. Manuel should perform this more often and be seen by more young people..and his older fans as well LOL.

I love Manuel, he produced so beautiful music right into the heart.
The symphonic version of E2-E4 is worth listening.
And Pluralis (on Inventions) has definitively no age. What a nice sound with only a guitar.
Go discover Inventions for electric guitar (Ash Ra Tempel VI), though the sleeve is a bit ugly, it's one the most wonderful album I ever heard, and it is made with only a guitar. When genius meets talent.

Absolutely. I was lookin' for "Invetions" for three years before I found this album. A masterpiece, done in the mid 70s. You hear where techno has its origins.

Yes, but actually, about E2E4, wich is supposed to have gaven birth to techno, it is funny to see that it has not the classic kick drum on all 4 bars but just 3 bars :-)
About Inventions for E guitar, I read that Manuel had to record all his tracks with a big clock in front of him for knowing what parts to play... I could not do this, I have not enough discipline myself ;-)

This pre-MIDI piece was composed and produced in 1981, but not released until 1984, and then only on two sides of an LP. And it was never performed live until now. In the meantime, there was a big dance floor hit named SUENO LATINO that is based on E2 E4. When will our music history books include this music?

I just bought his e-2 e-4 album yesterday, out of curiosity, hence I didn't know he's playing synths other than guitars, and I got struck! That's the way a perfect electronic music album should sound, waaaayyy better than all the Schulze albums from that period, more melodic than Jarre, it's like he was saying let me show you what I can do when I get down to business.. any more albums of his(or AShra's) worth listening with a passion, like this one. would appreciate it. Cheers!

yeah it did give birth to techno E2E4 was a huge influence on the earlier Detroit artist and thus inspired them to create there funky abstract compositions that was later on given the name techno by Juan Atkins.

This track was a huge influence on Derrick May, Reese and all the first wave Detroit guys. Derrick even sampled it himself on a remix.

Thx for posting, this is awesome indeed, however, The Masterpiece in my book will always be INVENTIONS! I guess ya kinda had to be 15 when it came out to see just how innovative and transcending it was. We listenend to Tempel a few years previous, then boooom! Inventions! Man! To me it still surpasses this, by far. Though this is absolutely Fantastic to be sure!

Thatkai,
I looked up Sueno Latino and downloaded it. Turns out that is the version that I heard first. DJ used to pump the hell out of this track on late nights back in 89. You'd be surprised how well this song mixes into others. Thanks for the info.
