This question gets brung up so many times, and Im not being biased when I say this since Im a huge fan of both fighters(in their prime) but I'd have to give this one to Tyson,If both were in thewir prime,Tyson. Hes just too powerful for how fast he was, Ali as great as he was in his eara would get rocked, just as I think Ali wouldve rocked Rocky Marciano, another great fighter that Im a huge fan of. I could be wrong but this is just my best educated guess.

A fighter can only really be judged by the quality of opposition. Ali fought and beat Frazier, Foreman, Ken Norton, Shavers, Liston, Ron Lyle, Floyd Patterson, Chuvalo etc. This list makes Tyson's opposition look ordinary. It's no wonder Ali's era is considered to be the Goldern Period of Heavywieght Boxing just look at Foreman he win's the heavyweight title 20 years later! Tyson was a great fighter no doubt but Ali is simply a LEGEND!

Codemasta, don't take anything ali said to tyson on that show serious...on an interview with showtime...he says that Tyson is great...but he is no Ali...tyson is nowhere near ali's handspeed. Ali also had like 10 inches longer reach than tyson making it even better the fact he has the fastest heavyweight handspeed compared to his reach. Ali is nr.1

I would say that ali would beat tyson... not because he had an amazingly fast left hook. but tyson didnt have the stamina. tyson would knock his opponent out as quickly as possible. and ali would just play in the first few rounds to calm himself a bit more. no matter how many fights you've had or how long you have been fighting. theres always a bit of nervousness.
