Looks more like Wittmundhafen Airbase. The jet also bears the characteristic "R" of JG71 on the intakes, so it was definitely a JG71 phantom.

my professor flew those and he said they used to fly at zero altitude in Death Valley and bet on cases of beer. he said he won once, but he looked up and saw a hill in front of him and was like o $h!t and pulled up. that was the last time he won. lol. bad ass bird. proof that a brick can fly as the sang goes and they are one loud machine!

When I was in the military (years ago) our D.I. would say, "Smoke 'em if you got 'em." And man that F4 could smoke 'em, high, low fast... you name it.

F4E, F4EJ, F4F all had a Vulcan cannon mounted under the nose. This was practically a field improvisation (but wasn't - it was a factory redesign) that came about due to the air combat lessons learned in Vietnam; that the idea of using missiles in dogfight situations would prove superior. MiG pilots successfully got inside even the AIM9's short range and tormented the big Phantom. Vulcan pods became the norm for a while, then the F4E appeared.
