The film Garbo and producer Walter Wanger tried to "remake" in 1949/1950. James Mason was signed to be Garbo's co-star.
Wanger, bought the film rights to the french novel La Duchesse de Langeais in 1948. He suggested Garbo the idea to turn this 1834 Balzac novel, into a film aftetr they decided
NOT to to a film about GEORGE SAND. Greta liked the idea. Back in 1947, there was already a, La Duchesse de Langeais, film made. This french film version, directed by Jacques de Barobcelli, starred Edwige Feuillere as the tragic Duchess. Garbo had admiration for Edwige. Wanger arranged a private sc
reening of the film in Paris. The film provided Greta with a clear idea of what to do with her part. This may have grabbed her too, to make this film. Garbo could identify with the Duchess.

However, she left us with a great career ,-)
There's no cause for regret as this adaptation will surely be magnificent. Depardieu is born for the role of Montriveau. But imagine him playing against an aging, wounded Garbo instead of the slightly too closed-off Balibar... Reason enough to make a time machine!
No Greta Garbo in 'La Duchesse de Langeais'...
The actress, in this video, is Edwige Feuillère, a famous french actress...
última película de Greta Garbo fue 'Two faced woman'!!!!!! Aquí no reconozco a Garbo...cuál es? Explicación...!!
