Personally I see no problem with his throw. I do not see it as a dangerous throw. I am not a referee, I am however a competitor in the same category although not at the same level.
I used to be a competitor, whether the old 3 point system, new scoring system and now becoming a referee myself. It's all in the head and the thinking that make you a slightly better than your opponent.
