Petit is pure class from a long gone era.
I can't imagine anyone pulling such an illegal stunt today for no other motive than the beauty of it.
Nowadays, anyone trying something so audacious would be "sponsored" by Coca-Cola, Nike, Starbucks et al, and would have an army of lawyers negotiating a book-deal and TV rights... .
Bravo Philippe!

oh this was more than him walking on the wire. I found the relationships that was attached interesting. His girlfriend. and well I thought Jean-Louis was wonderfull and my favourtie of them all. Yes hes an amazing man, but only lived for one thing....and left life and real love behind.
I thought it was a brilliant doc and so well done. Funny also.

The girl interviewing is cute, kinda reminds me of Jennifer Love Hewitte. It's funny how she gets shocked at the end ;) I'm definatly going to check this movie out, it looks cool and it would be nice seeing those towers again. Especially being a New Yorker.

Ben7seven7: I saw it yesterday and thought it was very well done. Very exciting., with much great footage/photos from 1971, 72, 73, 74. There is also humor throughout. What Philipe did is truly amazing. The man seems to have little fear of death, which is something that consciously or unconsciously affects all of us throughout our (fearful?) lives.

Private PersonalPlace: I'm a New Yorker and loved seeing Philippe perform his magic on our beautiful, much missed Twin Towers...during a much gentler, sweeter time in history. His energy and humor were remarable. The man is truly amazing!!

papilon0970: Thanks for your well put remarks! Philippe is pure class and a magical human being. I would like to say that "there should be more people like him" but, it seems, there aren't any. He is truly unique!

maybe so, but just because she's a rhodes scholar, doesn't mean she's capable of intuiting interview subject's mood and thought patterns, as well as timing...., essential skills for a successful interviewer. They really should get somebody else. I was cringing and embarrassed for her.

I saw "Man on Wire" a few days ago and I must admit that I was very, very moved.
It is a beautiful tale that is altogether inspirational, exciting, funny and touching.
It is also an interesting foray into notions od courage, friendship and love.

not a great interview but she's probably smarter than cindy sherman... the weird al yankovic of photography, and kanye west...the cindy sherman of hip hop.
