Have you ever wanted to have professional looking labels on your CDs & DVDs? Kerry Decker takes you on a basic tour & clears away the mystery in this How-To for ink jet printing.
This tutorial covers Epson's R280, R380, R800, R1800 & the Photo 1400 ink jet printers. Others may work as well. The software is Epson's "Print CD Ver 1.31a"
I found this process gives professional results over traditional sticky labels that can later peel or the laser-etch method which is good for B &W text only. I hope this will get you started printing nice labels on white printable DVDs & CDs.

Great video! Very well done. You are a very good teacher. Right now I do not have one of those models but I might want to look into it. What I do have is a really good ink source, SPOT4INK DOT COM. Try SPOT4INK DOT COM and see what great prices you can get and great ink to boot. Most cartridges are remanufactured which makes them as green as possible. There are no shipping costs ever and delivery is fast and efficient. Thanks again for taking the time to share your knowledge with others.

Thanks! No, I'm not much of a cook - just a professional eater. I do like to make simple things & made these videos to help others like me. There are 3 listed here plus they are on cable TV in Orlando, FL & hopefully soon in Rochester, NY.

I've heard that It's a pretty good printer (the 1800 that is). However, I own two color laser printers and wonder how durable the print is on the disc after being printed on by an inkjet printer. Not that DVDs usually get wet, but regular handling may smudge?
I know what you ... ( 2 months ago by KKD1247)
I know what you mean. I've not had any problems thus far with smudging. My "Gloss Spray" in the 1800 has been going down but they look Matte. However, I still feel it is a better method than stick-on labels.

If you want a really fool proof way to label your discs then stop playing games and get a DiscPainter. It works flawlessly without the feed tray problems that are so common with the Epson disc printers.

I have seen the DiscPainter and it is very nice. However, the Epson serves my needs perfectly for now.

DReidUtoob, That's a biased comment. This Epson printers can do more than just print CDs in high definition. I've never own a CD printer and I figure it out in a snap. The artist who drew those instructions isn't knowledgeable about the consumer's ways. It's not a huge problem. This one sells for $100, the DiscPainter sells for $276 and prints unusually slow.

Good presentation, and I enjoyed it very much. I'm using the Epson R280 which costs around $100 and does a fine job printing onto the dvd/cd's..its the ink thats a killer!... Epson practically gives you the lower priced printers. The one used here cost much more and will probably last longer than mine.
Thanks! Yes, its ... ( 2 weeks ago by KKD1247)
Thanks! Yes, its the ink cost on ALL printers that gets us. Your Epson R280 is a great little printer. As a photographer, I wanted the large prints that the R1800 makes. The CD/DVD printing was a side issue - now its one of my main uses! Soon, I'll do a video about the HP C5250 - an $89 printer that also prints on DVDs. We'll compare the two. Stay tuned.
