I met Jill through Julia Sweeney. Both incredible ladies. And this song is very touching. Love how she didn't correct the grammar and just sings the words in first-person present as the woman probably spoke them.

Because in many cases these woman are basically slaves. They're brought here under indentured servitude contracts by owners of massage parlors, beauty salons, nail salons, etc. They have to "work off" their debt before they can leave. It's very difficult to do so, and their families back home are usually in danger from retribution if they leave. It's sick.

Yeah, Jill has a very unique voice, and incredible talent. She's also a very nice person, which is rare in extremely talented folks (in my experience).
