It's not really an oddity to see our generations (I'm seventeen) listening and respecting the classics. I'm not sure how the (c)rap got popularity like it has, but there are many people my age who listen to the classics. CCR, ELO, The Who, Led Zeppelin, and of course The Beatles. Judging on what I've seen, only 1/3 to 1/4 of kids these days actually listen to that crap on the radio.

I was born in 1985. I would give up a million dollars if someone told me they were taking my oldies and classic rock stations. Art then was made to make you feel something good. Even if the message was negative it was still done in a way to make you feel that there was still a party somewhere. Music now is pointless. Rock, Metal, Soft Rock, Rap, these are all jokes to me...especially anti-government influenced art. It is done because it is a safe way to sell rock, not to speak something true.

That's because you don't find alot of rap on the radio. I hate rap so much and I love listening to music from my parents' generation. I really don't like 60s music at all but CCR is really good. 60s to 70s is a big difference but in the 70s and 80s, the rock has pretty much the same sound. If you listen to bands like U2, Bon Jovi, Pearl Jam, etc., that came in the late 80s and were popular in the 90s, their sound is a little different but I think their rock is really, really good.
