I suppose it could have that connotation. If you watch the "demon days" live concert, the corresponding video has a totally different feeling to it out side of this video.
Sometimes bands don't actually make their own music videos, and sometimes the director of the video sees a different message in a song then what the lyrics mean.
Im reminded of that green day music video "wake me up...semptember..."
