The songs don't all use the same chords. The only thing they have in common is that they use 4/4 timing and 4 chords. He transposed them into this chord progression which also helps it suit his vocal range. You can tell its transposed because 'Torn' doesnt quite fit properly.

what the masses eat up changes all the time. if it was so easy to write a hook that appealed to millions of people everyone would be doing it. i dont like most popular music but there are some very intelligent people behind it figuring out how to get the attention of the masses. thats what i meant

I am going to guess it's the limewire effect, where songs are tagged with their first lines. In this case, "Don't Stop Believing" starts with "Just a small town girl, living in a lonely world" so you can figure out what it really is. Eh? Take it easy on these kinds of people.
