In my opinion, this tune is pure country for many reasons starting with the lyrics (not just because he mentions cowboy in the begining), the melody and the feeling to mention a few. Plus the original cut includes good steel and back vocals. That being said we might not have the same opinion on what' country and what's not and it's just great. I'm sure you know your country and i'm glad you shared your point of view. And it's great music indeed!!!
