So feminist in America get some government money, cause if they don't get, the government is sexist and oppressive. And they can use it to support foreign feminist groups. Those groups, if they got strong enough, can also expect government money, for the same reason etc.

I have never met people who are more keen to shove their own values down other people's throats than those who pose as critics of political correctness. They use "politically correct" as a slur term to (1) pre-emptively destroy the political credibility of their ideological opponents and (2) to immunise their own ideology against rational criticism.

'Femenism' as a term, has been mis-contrued and adapted to suit the individual principles of some women. But it distinctly does mean equality by real feminists...some use the word as a tokenistic term.Equality in the media needs addressing as men and women are still being exploited and sexualy objectified especialy to the target consumer audience of young teenage men. The generalisation is what lets us all down...even me.

Basically it would be wornderful if we could live in a society where people weren't bigoted and xenophobic and racist but sadly this is not the case. Political correctness is a tool that is used to try and minimise offence caused to people because of prejudice. What is wrong with that???

True polictical correctness is simply a way to try and be a bit nicer to other people. It means not sexually harrasing a woman at work by pinching her bum. It means not calling people "a paki" and then punching them in the face.
The people who call manhole covers person coverings or somesuch are not being PC. They are being morons.

No one is trying to ban the word Christmas. Generally councils that hold winter festivals are run by well meaning by misguided idiots. There are no legal measures in place to stop people saying it.

davidheffron- I would agree in so far as the word gets thrown around sometimes. Some people will use it to legitimise their ignorance. However when you have the recent case of a government minister (ie Margaret Hodge) saying the Proms are not inclusive this is a case of high level PC. On this occasion it was just her opinion. PC does exist and its really not needed. I value politeness, I do not value being labelled ignorant because I may voice something in a different way than someone else.
