Alfred Bama works at the Limbe Wildlife Centre, a sanctuary for young primates and great apes orphaned by the illegal bush-meat trade. He has hand-reared nearly all of the apes from infancy. It is both a deep and touching relationship with the gorillas perceiving him as a father and part of their group.

Great film, well made. I come from the UK and I spent 2 years living in East Africa as a teacher. I'm still trying to come to terms with the differences between life here and life out there. People in the UK can be really cold and distant - not like a lot of African people, or like Bama in this video. :) lol when he hears the elephant noise. People in the UK care too much about material things, when you compare people from different cultures like this video it makes it obvious.

nice documentary. A lot of respect to Mr.Bama for he looks like hes doing a fantastic job in Cameroon both at the centre and in re-educating his people about modern bushmeat trade. However, whether Cameroon will have its natural forest for the next generation to enjoy is another question! Cameroon is fortunate to have people like Bama to fight the surge of deforestation and to promote more considered development. One tip though Bama, put your sugar your tea after you have taken the tea bag out!

1/2 Thank you very much for this excellent video! I live in a fourth world country where, due to severe economic hardship, most people dream of migrating to the west. Many people here don't realize that they are rich even though they don't have money because they have things which are more valuable than money, such as close friend and family ties.
In the US, for instance, old folks are just placed into nursing homes by their families. Here where I live, nursing homes are unheard of.

2/2 Old folks here are revered and are lovingly taken care of by their younger relatives.
I hope everyone who dreams of migrating to the west, thinking that it is the land of milk and honey, will watch this video. Perhaps then they will realize that they are they are already wealthy beyond measure. I commend the producers and writers of this excellent video for the clarity of their in
sight, their wisdom, and for sharing them freely with everyone. Thanks, Al Jazeera!

A wonderful documentary! Thanks to AJE for producing this interesting documentary. Mister Bama does a great job in Cameroon, working so lovingly with the apes and trying to teach his fellow countrymen to love gorillas, too. Also, I like very much how it shows Mister Bama's work and his journey to Britain from the African perspective, rather than from the Western one as documentaries from other channels do.
