It don't seem like anyone else agrees with you. Volunteers are 72% of the fire service. So if you can do the math that leaves you with 28% that can be career. So you are in the minority "this means the small group". And as far as sending my sister or anyone over to your house I don't think that your mom and dad would like that in their basement.

As a career firefighter/paramedic I have to say that I have no use for volleys. Volleys might make up 72% of the fire service, but that does not mean that they are doing the job right. Firefighting is a career not a hobby. Most town use volley departments because they know that they can always depend on a few idiots to do the job for free trying to look like big shots to their neighbors. When if they were smart they could make it a full time job.Idiots.

Being a firefighter is more than putting a red light on the top of your car and putting on turnout gear. I bet after these guys were on this call and watch this house burn down, they went home/back to the station and bragged what great firemen they are and jacked off to Ladder 49.
