Very nice to listen to and ponder. Again, thank you very much. It is heartening to see people discussing these matters in this way.
Excuse me if I'm ... ( 1 year ago by markuscol)
Excuse me if I'm wrong, but Plato, like his mentor and disciple, never talked about reincarnation per se. The Gorgias is well encapsulated by the Myth of Judgement, where one is judged upon death without any trappings of worldly stature, whereby Hitler, for instance, will ever after be judged as a vile human being. On the other hand, if you live well, posterity will remember your existance in positive terms.
Furthermore, philosophy is never a matter of chalk.
You might want to ... ( 1 year ago by openingmind)
You might want to read the Meno the section on learning as a kind of recollection, and continue on in the Gorgias, and then compare that with the Apology where you will find Socrates views on the cycle of death and life. Let us know what you find, and I will forward your comment to Pierre. -Lisa

The good or bad is ... ( 1 year ago by Aegialeus)
The good or bad is only passed through on to those who still live in the reality that we share. Once we die we leave this reality....and "if" we are reincarnated and depending on the condition of the mind and body we aquire and if it happens to be human, we start recieving knowledge again. If you died as an Oxford scholar, and were reborn as an Amazonian aboriginal, the knowledge you would aquire is the knowledge that has been passed on in those parts of the world. You would not know E=mc^2.
Those who are ... ( 1 year ago by Aegialeus)
Those who are living in this reality we share, are the custodians of good or bad knowledge, evolved knowledge, new knowledge, and knowledge preserved. It is the custodians of knowledge which determines what knowledge to those who will aquire it wether they are reincarnated or just born, into this reality...and that is if the new custodians in training accepts it or not...and the cycle continues.

You are correct ... ( 10 months ago by jayjasonbird)
You are correct some people do believe they are doing the right thing and they can prove it only if they are the ones victorious at war. Hitler lost therefor he was wrong. But was his Idea of a united Europe?
a united europe.. ... ( 9 months ago by nissimo)
a united europe.. maybe, but a united europe excluding everyone he thought "inferior"? Hitler was not wrong because he lost the war, he was wrong because he murdered thousands and thought he had a superiority that no one has,
another way you ... ( 9 months ago by Corpropress)
another way you could say that is that hitler was good because he essentially pushed us into the modern age. not by his directl action, but, through the stresses of war, which pushed for the development of technology which make the backbone of society today

Pierre writes:
Political leaders personify and express the desires and the wishes and their people and the more powerfull the leader is the one that can tap into their deepest and unsuspected desires. It will never change, the only way to curtail the maddness of leaders is to expose the folly of their followers. Once this is perceived as obvious, people will recognise the need to curb the rise of these leaders who carry out the folly of their followers. The only way is to establish a law...
over all nations ... ( 8 months ago by openingmind)
over all nations that will expose these would be leaders, and demonstrate for a court of reason. the powers that align themselves with these despots. The law of reason is natural, and a world government must curtail these pawn brokers of hate, and block their quest for power.
