You have to respect Gaspard Ulliel though. He went from unknown to Hannibal Lecter. It's not like they can make Anthony Hopkins seem younger for Hannibal Rising.

I do agree, but I didn't think he was the best choice. I believe that Daniel Radcliff probably would've been a better choice. Radcliff is around the age that Hannibal was in the book HR, and not to mention him and Sir Tony have more similarities then Ulliel and Sir Tony do. Hopkins is the one who made Hannibal Lecter who he is in media, atleast they should've chose an actor that has some similarities with him. :/

Daniel Radcliff, I'd guess they do have similarities. Maybe more people would watched HR, but Gaspard Ulliel doesn't have that Harry Potter image. It's a toss up. Amazing movie.

Agree with the "toss up" point, budget could've been an issue too. DR is a high profile actor, and that means they'd have to pay him more then GU. I however don't agree with "amazing movie". Good general revenge story, bad story for Hannibal. I don't see a fundamental connection between the Hannibal in this movie, and the one depicted later in the series. There's just something missing.
