All this talk of white men and being pushed is a bit crazy.
Donny Hathaway suffered from extreme bouts of depression, I think this is reflected in his music, his music/soul is very dark. My singing teacher who knew him, said he had feelings for Roberta flack, but she didnt reciprocate the feelings.
So it's highly likely that the poor guy did jump out out the window, so lets not speak ill of the dead, dear lord this man has a voice sent from heaven

James Mutume who was a co-writer/producer on the last duet LP with Donny & Roberta, said that besides suffering from depression and paranoia, he also struggled with his sexual identity. Allegedly, he was in love with a man, a co-writer on a couple of Donny's previous recordings. I never heard about him being in love with Roberta but anything is possible. I don't know what to believe but Donny made some beautiful music. His legacy shines on.....
