Actually, he got beat up pretty bad when he went back to boxing (which he did before acting). His face was smashed and so he needed the facelifts to look a bit like his old self again and to get back into acting again. He's a pretty 'bad' boy, so to say...He literally was picked from the streets for his first small role.
