This footage is about how people drive in Zhoaqing. Rules and Laws do exist, but nobody does not obey them. They are traffic lights around the city of Zhaoqing but this crossroads none are in sight. I filmed this on the roof of my apartment. The music is created by Legna: www.myspace.com/cadumusic

This would be not possible in Germany. When Germans sit in a car, they push the gas pedal as hard as they can and only stop if there is a red traffic light.

This is not a terrible way to operate traffic so long everyone behaves and pays attention to everyone around them. I would say roundabouts are perhaps the most efficient form of intersection if you want to keep cars moving and yield the most traffic. Traffic lights are the worst as they just delay traffic like crazy and promote the aggressive hurry up and wait driving style.

this is something I noticed driving in the UK.. over-all they were 1000x more polite than what I'm used to here in Oz. Here indicating means "demand" or "stating current action". I indicate (as per the book) and I get horns ,yelling.. because the others are used to one blink and move.. They think I'm just a wee bit slow in darting out.. whereas, I'm just showing my intent and waiting !
I still think they need traffic control.. their injury/fatality rate must be sky high..

chinese people are the best drivers. have you ever wonder how come accidents are so few relatively in china when compared to the US? well, the reason is because both societies have different foundational basis. western societies is a low context culture, which means that direct rules and methods are exploited for improvement and stability. In contrast, chinese and other asian cultures are social and relationship - based societies. Indirect methods achieving the same ends but more (vast networks)
