Why does Elvis even come up? JB was nothing but raw, gut-bucket soul! On a different level, a different planet! JB was doing shit back then that today's artist couldn't even imagine! He'd forgotten more dance steps that any upcoming hip-hop artist! Let's not mix rock, punk, acid or anything else when it comes to James Brown. I saw James in 1964 in Newark NJ for the first time. I was 14. Since then I saw him every chance I could. I actually got to meet him at Hank Cosby's office at Polydor records in 1971 when he was looking to switch labels. This video is basically the show i saw in 64. i would kill for the whole video. Why can't you buy this anyplace! It's the most exciting show I ever saw. I have been a full time musician for the last 41 years and I attribute it to seeing James.
