If you read the offical fan book of Taxi, there are amny positive things said about Andy. Marilu Henner said she got close to be before he died and Jeff Conaway ended up becoming friends.

The more amusing thing is that he has never considered himself a 'comedian' (it is famous the phrase "I've never told a joke in my life"),yet he's a lot funnier than many other 'real comedians' out there,still today.
I think that no one could really tell when he was 'serious' or when he was acting:I simply can't distinguish the two things.
He's still surrounded by 'mystery and illusion' after all of these years:maybe this is the greatest achievement he could ever dream about :-)
