The more amusing thing is that he has never considered himself a 'comedian' (it is famous the phrase "I've never told a joke in my life"),yet he's a lot funnier than many other 'real comedians' out there,still today.
I think that no one could really tell when he was 'serious' or when he was acting:I simply can't distinguish the two things.
He's still surrounded by 'mystery and illusion' after all of these years:maybe this is the greatest achievement he could ever dream about :-)
