Gaara's mark means love. It's not really a seal, but more of a cruel reminder. Basically his mother wanted him to only love himself and fight for only himself and feel no love from or for anyone else. All in hoped that he would live a miserable exsistance and thus carry on her grudge against the Hidden Sand Village.

Well, I can sympathize most with Gaara rather than Rock-lee because Rock-Lee could have at least lived a normal life even if he failed as a shinobi, but Gaara knew nothing but sorrow and loneliness from the time he was a child. I admire Naruto most for his determination to overcome his alienation and his always standing for what's right under every possible circumstances without making excuses.
