i took a brain hemisphere test and im just about 50/50.i wonder if that has disadvatages.if anyone is a neuro-scientist let me know.
true story: I get ... ( 1 month ago by daizygrl)
true story: I get it, now I see why my parents gave me a choice (both MIDDLE school sweetheatrs - grown up Catholic in Brooklyn, and Queens). they said I should choose some kind of faith, but do not give "hope" to an in-signaficant beign, and choose wise-ly. How could one God control the entire Universe? i dunno?hmmmmmm I would like to learn but, science say's other. help me decide my fate.

Evolution follows ... ( 1 month ago by guruu29)
Evolution follows evidence, more so than the fact that species just "seem" similar. DNA virtually proves natural selection, and so far all the observations match the predictions. It irrational at this point to not accept evolution.
Higher dimensions ... ( 4 weeks ago by bob1qaz)
Higher dimensions would make it very possible for a god.
Evolution says ... ( 3 weeks ago by lifeisgummo)
Evolution says nothing about driving fast, i believe you have taken this out of context. It's not only directly linked to brain neurology."survival of the fittest" does not directly mean stamina or endurance, but more to do with reproduction and genetics. Evolution is indifferent to emotion and behaviour.
You creationists ... ( 3 weeks ago by whole27)
You creationists try so hard to debunk evolution and any science that refutes the bible...so how about you try and prove just one absurd fable in the bible...the talking snake or donkey perhaps? The earth being only 6000 years old? Dinosaurs living in harmony with humans only that long ago?? Adam and eve?? David and goliath?? On and on and on....fairytale after fairytale??

Absolutely correct ... ( 3 weeks ago by p101James)
Absolutely correct bob1qaz- DNA proved we did not mix with Neanderthal. That just blows everything for the evolutionaries.
The existence of ... ( 2 weeks ago by bryonpav)
The existence of God is possible, sure. But our beliefs inform our actions. For me, it is important that the things I believe in are likely to be true. So, how do we measure that? Observation, logical deduction, scientific method... for me, it comes down to evidence. There is no other way to determine the state of the universe than to observe it and experience it. We have to decide whether there is sufficient EVIDENCE to believe in god. If not, you should abandon your beliefs.
Wrong, I am not ... ( 2 weeks ago by bob1qaz)
Wrong, I am not talking about the bible but a supreme being. If you observed it correctly you would realize there is no way to come to a conclusion that way. Such as a 2dimensional creature trying to look up.

can't people just watch this awesome genius speak without getting into a spitting match about their differing beliefs?
After Sagan made ... ( 2 weeks ago by Chuichupachichi)
After Sagan made his statement of "matter transformed into conscious". Why didn't he explain exactly how that transformation takes place?
No matter his degree of education, his fairy tale wouldn't be any more supported by the known facts than would a five year olds tale.
Or the fairy tale ... ( 2 weeks ago by myromeodude123)
Or the fairy tale you live in. btw, I disagree that his statements are not backed up by facts.
in the case of many ... ( 2 weeks ago by lolwtfomfglol)
in the case of many species, the "fittest" are those with the most emptathy and compassion, who are able to work together for increased power; often "survival of the fittest" seems to be taken to mean: "BIG HAIRY BRUTE WHO SMASH!!"
evolution created emotions, as means of organisms determing optimal context-based behaviors, or at least what would hopefully be optimal
Our brains are ... ( 2 weeks ago by khmer41980)
Our brains are finite. If there is a God he she it or they might be out of our range of understanding? For now.

Thank you Carl, for really really putting yourself out there to bring light into this world. Your works have been far more than anything anyone of us that post here, have contributed to the world. I can only hope that your kindness and compassion for our species is shared by more than merely a few. No matter what any posters here believe, or claim, your works helped shaped a better reality for those of us struggling to simply find meaning and purpose in this reality. Thank You Carl. Blessed Be.

It's annoying how many bible trolls there are yammering away about GOD instead of respecting the genius of Sagan.

lol. wrong. Whether Cro-Magnon and Neanderthal cross-bred or not has no bearing on the validity of evolution. Seriously, WTF.

"myromeodude123"(Or the fairy tale you live in. btw, I disagree that his statements are not backed up by facts)
The fact that he gave no facts to support that particular claim is exactly what my comment pointed out. You say that his statements are backed up by facts. What facts? Where are they? It sounds as though you heard what I may have missed? How about if you explain how our consciousness arose from na
tural, material causes?
